Restoration of Historic Fountain using Moroccan Tadelakt
118 year old fountain on the campus of Tower Hill School in Wilmington, Delaware. Plaster dish was cracked and taking on water causing damage and threatening the longevity of this historic campus landmark. Tadelakt would be the perfect material to hold up to freeze thaw and constant exposure to water
Here a horizontal crack is visible. This had to be addressed and repaired before preparation for tadelakt could begin.
Old paint was removed and the dish repaired so that the base coat plaster could be applied. Tadelakt needs an absorbing base coat consisting of lime and sand in order to dry in two directions.
A base coat of lime and sand are cured and ready for tadelakt.
First finish coats of tadelakt applied and smoothed. the color was a custom made, Azure blue green made in house at the clients request. Custom colors and color matching available.
